The 14 Locks walk along the Monmouthshire-Brecon canal

If you happen to be driving towards Cardiff along the M4, just after you've exited the Brynglas tunnels glance to your left and you might catch sight of some canal locks going up a slight incline. This is a long disused section of what was the  Monmouthshire-Brecon canal .  As you're driving along the motorway the canal passes underneath the M4, travels parallel with it for 1/2 mile or so and then passes underneath again before climbing via a series of locks to the top of the hill at Rogerstone. Its a fascinating walk along side what was the motorway of its day (it closed in 1948 I think) and the visitor centre at the top of the hill at Rogerstone is well worth a visit.  Heres a link to the visitor centre site. http://fourteenlocks.mbact.org.uk/index.php/contact We'll start underneath the M4!
